Hats off to the PCC of West Mercia for funding the innovative CEDAR Life Lessons project to teach ex-young offenders how to understand, except and respond appropriately to death and loss in their lives. Studies have shown that over 10% of young offenders experience a profound loss early in life, such as the death of a close family member, and may become socially isolated as a result. Social isolation can be a root cause in the development of clinical pathologies such as low self-esteem, alcoholism, drug abuse, self-harming and delinquency, which often leads to anti-social behaviour and potential criminality.

CEDAR is pleased to have this wonderful opportunity to work with these young people, who will be recruited from across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and look forward to developing the project for the PCC of West Mercia.
